Pretty sure the fandom saw something like this when Amon was unmasked.  Also I wanted an excuse to draw Amon/Noatak’s pretty face.
That said I’m the weirdo who still prefers his mask and/or a burned face.

OH MY GOD IT’S THE RAP FROM THE REALLY HOT GUY THAT I WOULD KILL TO COLLAB WITH ANSJFKAVALHDOEHA

it’s sad that proclaimed anti-piracy legislation in USA are trying to stop people from creating content like this just because they can’t own the copyrights *_*

I’m not even a rap fan but this is done wonderfully!

I meant to say something about this when this episode came out, but I absolutely have to now. I wish I had a gif because seeing the animation makes it so much clearer.

Did anyone notice when this episode came out how… ASHAMED Tarrlok looked?

How horrified he was of what he’d done?

Before when I noticed it, I just thought, wow, maybe there is an ounce of human in Tarrlok after all.

But after the finale it all makes so much sense.

He told his father, “I never want to bloodbend again.” because after Noatak bloodbent him, he knew how horrible it felt, and he didn’t want to make his brother or anyone else feel that way again.

But here, because of the mess he’d gotten himself into in his personal vendetta against Amon, he HAD to bloodbend again to save himself, and he had to do it to a bug group of people.

I doubt he’d done that before.

And I think we can tell that all his life, from the time when he was a kid until now, he’s never wanted to use bloodbending, even for his own devices. When he first bloodbent Korra, I know it was rather horrifying, but honestly, I WILL defend him there — she was going to kill him. Plain and simple. If he hadn’t have stopped her, he would be dead.

From there, it spiraled out of control. I don’t think Tarrlok ever had ANY intention of bloodbending again even up to this point. In fact, considering his father stopped training him and then passed away, I don’t think he ever had the will or opportunity to bloodbend another human, at all, since his brother ran away. But the circumstances in this episode — admittedly, the ones he’d caused for himself by being a douchebag — forced him to. And here you can plainly see, it takes its toll on him. It becomes easier on him as he goes, as situations arise where he has to keep doing it, but it remains difficult.

Here we were thinking he was this totally evil dude who bloodbends people to enforce his will all the time, because he’s, y’know, Actual Douchebag Councilman Tarrlok. But in reality, he’s just a scarred little boy desperate to stop his world from tearing at the seams, and the only way to do that is to use the one ability that has completely ruined his life.

Fuck. TOO MANY TARRLOK FEELS.

Can we rename him “Actual Hero Councilman Tarrlok” or

I second your opinion!

I initially thought he was only panicking. But my word, now my sentiments are in a tailspin…

Can I take a moment to talk about that structure there? It’s that shrine-looking thing at the end of LoK/episode 12 where Korra gives Lin her bending back.
That up there looks uncannily like a Buddhist stupa, a type of structure found throughout Asia that often houses relics of the Buddha and the bodhisattvas. There are are relic stupas, object stupas, commemorative stupas, symbolic stupas, and votive stupas, each having its own purpose.
The first thing that’s so very strange about it is that it’s surrounded by large, standing rocks. And the second thing that’s really strange about it is that Korra gives Lin back her bending at this specific spot.
It’s in the middle of the South Pole. Why are there stones around it? Why is it colored with earthen tones, rather than the whites and blues of the Water Tribe?
That leads me to believe that it isn’t just some random shrine.
I personally have begun to think it’s Toph’s grave, a relic to her memory and probably where she’s buried. That is, it is a stupa commemorative stupa (and perhaps even a relic stupa, if she is indeed buried there). And if that’s the case, that makes Lin getting her bending back at that particular spot especially poignant and touching because Lin is the carrier of her mother’s legacy and what better place to receive the greatest gift her mother gave her back?
There’s also a few other things that are ridiculously striking about this. According to Wikipedia, there are 8 different kinds of stupas, each symbolic of a different moment in the Buddha’s life. This stupa in particular is bell-shaped and has no extra ornamentation. That is supposedly symbolic of the Buddha’s ascension to Nirvana.
The stupa is also supposed to represent the four elements in total harmony as well as enlightenment:
the square base represents earth
the dome represents water
the spire (or the steps) represent fire
the lotus on the top of the spire of the stupa represents air
and the steps can be said to represent the ascension to enlightenment.
And enlightenment in Korra’s case (within context, of course)? Connecting with the Avatar Spirit and realizing that she is the Avatar and that no one can take that away from her.
So whoa. You’ve got both Toph and Lin’s relationship represented here, as well as Korra’s realization of being the Avatar.
That’s how Bryke intended to end the series. And damn, that’s pretty mind blowing.

Seems legit, but I’m not so sure that Toph was buried in the South Pole..
